About the World Cup 2026 Group Tables

The group tables above display the current standings for all 12 groups at FIFA World Cup 2026. Each table updates automatically as matches conclude, reflecting the latest points totals, goal differences, and goals scored for every team in the tournament. Use this page to track which nations are on course to qualify for the knockout rounds.

How World Cup 2026 Qualification Works

With 48 teams split into 12 groups of four, the qualification rules for the 2026 knockout stage differ from previous tournaments. The top two teams from each group qualify automatically — that is 24 teams. In addition, the eight best third-placed teams from across all 12 groups also advance, bringing the total to 32 teams entering the Round of 32. This means that finishing third in a group is not automatically an elimination — final group standings across all 12 groups are compared simultaneously once all group stage matches are complete.

Group Stage Points System

World Cup 2026 uses the standard FIFA points system: a win earns 3 points, a draw earns 1 point, and a loss earns 0 points. When teams are level on points, the tiebreakers applied in order are: goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head result between the tied teams, head-to-head goal difference, head-to-head goals scored, fair play points (yellow and red cards), and finally FIFA World Ranking at the time of the draw.
